The Club have been advised of Member vessels being detained by the Indonesian Navy whilst anchored in Indonesian territorial waters. Many of these detentions are occurring in vessels anchored in waters around the island of Bintan, in the Eastern portion of the Singapore Straits.

The UK P&I Club and the TT Club have recently been advised that a consignment of aluminium pellets (or dross) was found at the port of loading with the doors and sides of the container blown out. The third edition of "Guidelines on Cyber Security Onboard Ships" has recently been published to provide the maritime industry with updated and enhanced guidance on managing cyber related risks. The new version 3 addresses the requirement to incorporate cyber risks in the ship's Safety Management System and reflects a deeper experience with risk assessments of operational technology (OT) - such as navigational systems and engine controls. Additional guidance for dealing with the cyber risks to the ship arising from parties in the supply chain is also included.

The Club has recently been notified by New Zealand Transport Accident Investigation Commission (TAIC) of a cargo hold fire caused by the lighting system in a vessel hold. Members are advised that alternative LED lighting should be considered, to reduce the potential risk to ship safety posed by lights that radiate high levels of heat.
