Evolving Risks
Soybean Season
May to July
Peak South American soybean season runs from February to July. You may see an increase in claims relating to this cargo during the season due to it's inherent nature. Such risk factors can include self-heating, mould growth and high moisture content.
You're in safe hands with our expert resources to support you in these challenges. Whetherduring pre-load, loading, sea transit, or discharge, we've got the latest loss prevention measures for you.

Flighted Spongy Moth Complex
May to October
The Flighted Spongy Moth Complex (FSMC) season is upon us, starting from mid-May. This group of exotic pests, native to Asia, poses a significant threat to trees and shrubs, leading to the decline of forests, orchards, and landscapes if not properly managed. What does this mean for you? To protect the environment and ensure smooth operations, extra checks and strict compliance with FSMC regulations will be required in regulated areas. This will help to avoid rerouting, port delays, and other potential impacts.

Crew Wellbeing

Pre Employment Medical Examinations (PEME)
We are proud to offer the P&I industry’s most complete and established crew health programme. Since the mid-1990s our dedicated team has provided our Members with the best support available to ensure the wellbeing of their crew.
To prevent incidents and costly claims, all seafarers joining ships entered in the Club are required to undergo a PEME to identify any health risk factors and pre-existing medical conditions. As part of our balanced approach to crew health, we’re proud to offer the industry’s most extensive PEME programme.

Sustainability
Evolving Risks
Lithium Batteries
The widespread use of lithium-ion batteries within consumer goods and electronic/hybrid vehicles is reshaping the risk profile of managing hazardous cargoes. This requires new approaches to proactive defence and risk mitigation.

Alternative Fuels
The use of alternative marine fuels are integral to achieving the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) ambitious regulatory requirements to reduce total GHG emissions from shipping by 50% compared to 2008 levels by 2050 and to reduce the carbon intensity of shipping by at least 40% by 2030.
