Covid-19: Deviation cargo liability cover now available

With Covid-19 restrictions on travel and port operations, UK Club Members may be required to deviate from normal voyage routes to exchange crew.
Geographic deviations can put a shipowner at risk of losing certain defences or rights of limitation when facing cargo claims, resulting in additional cargo liabilities which fall outside normal mutual cover under the Rules. To address this issue, the Club is now offering all UK Club mutual Members an additional cover for any cargo liabilities arising solely due to deviations for crew changes.
Whilst the Club cannot cover operational costs such as fuel or loss of time, the additional deviation insurance can help facilitate crew changes.
The addition cover is offered at no additional premium. To apply for the additional cover please contact your Underwriting Department contact.
More about P&I cover and the covid-19 pandemic is available in the FAQ section of the Club’s website, here.
A dedicated section of the website is being continuously updated about crew changes and can be found here.
