COP27 took place in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, from 7-20th November 2022, having overrun by a day and a bit for the agreement to be signed off by the 200 countries which participated in the conference

Global warming is one of the most severe and complex challenges our world faces today; there is an urgent need to reduce emission levels and avoid the most devastating impacts of climate change and every individual, business, and industry, including shipping, has a part to play.
IMO Tier III NOx compliance is now mandatory for new vessels entering certain emission control areas
Bunker fuel analysis indicates more cases of contaminated bunker fuel in the Rotterdam and Amsterdam areas (ARA), suggesting that the problem persists
Marpol Annex VI requires ships to reduce SOx emissions either by burning low sulphur fuel or by cleaning the exhaust gas. Exhaust gas cleaning systems (EGCS), also known as "scrubbers", have been fitted onboard many ships as an acceptable equivalent method of compliance under Marpol Annex VI.
