Human-element Management Courses
The Club has partnered with CAE, the world’s largest civil aviation training company, to give Members free access to top-quality human-element management courses.
The three-day Maritime Crew Resource Management courses are for senior crew training officers, health and safety mangers, and designated persons ashore. Compliant with STCW, they cover managing the human element, exploring leadership styles, decision making, problem solving, delegation and error management in everyday situations.
We have also published a book with CAE called ‘Maritime Team Dynamics’, featuring 12 aviation incidents that cross-refer to the maritime sector, highlighting important and transferable ‘lessons from the flight deck’ and jointly run a webinar on ‘Can you train for a Black Swan Event’.

React Workshop
The Club has partnered with React Emergency Response and Simwave B.V. to provide a training initiative enhancing crew training on fire-fighting risks, related to the transportation of renewable energy sources.

Cargo Incident Notification System
As a part of the International Group of P&I Clubs, the UK P&I Club are an advisory Member of CINS. CINS is an initiative launched to increase safety within the supply chain, reduce the number of cargo incidents onboard ships.

PSC Pocket Checklists app
The Club has partnered with Lloyd’s Register to develop a unique and innovative checklist app to help Members’ crews ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and reduce the risk of port state control (PSC) detentions.
The continuously updated checklists cover Maritime Labour Convention requirements, International Safety Management Code and International Ship and Port Facility Security Code requirements, life-saving appliances, marine fire safety, marine pollution prevention and PSC.
Members can get the iOS version of the ‘PSC Pocket Checklists’ app from Apple’s App Store and the Android version from Google Play Store.
SafetyTech Accelerator
The UK P&I Club are a new anchor partner of the Cargo Fire and Loss Innovation Initiative (CFLII) from SafetyTech Accelerator. The CFLII is a collaborative technology acceleration programme to address current challenges and thereby prevent large scale cargo fires and cargo loss.

Together in Safety's latest report highlights how the shipping industry can unite to further improve safety.
This is a joint publication of CINS and the International Group of P&I Clubs outlining updated guidlines for the safe carriage of seed cake in containers.
Following a rise in the number of enquiries relating to the transport of metal scrap in containers, the Association would like to bring Members' attention to the CINS Metal Scrap Carriage Guidelines, which were published in January 2018.
