Circular 14/18: Review of open policy years and 2019 General Increase: Standard deductible remains unchanged at US$12,000 per event for the 2019 policy year. Any change in the cost of the International Group reinsurance will be passed on to the mutual Members. The Club has recently been notified by New Zealand Transport Accident Investigation Commission (TAIC) of a cargo hold fire caused by the lighting system in a vessel hold. Members are advised that alternative LED lighting should be considered, to reduce the potential risk to ship safety posed by lights that radiate high levels of heat.

The Club has recently handled two separate incidents in Algeria where crew members taking cash to the Master of the ship have had the cash confiscated by the Algerian Customs, as well as a fine imposed for twice the amount of the cash value.
