Myanmar remains subject to sanctions imposed by the United States, United Kingdom, European Union and other jurisdictions. These measures primarily target designated individuals, entities and organisations, including certain state-owned enterprises and military-linked interests.

There is no general prohibition on trading with or calling at Myanmar. However, Members should undertake appropriate due diligence to ensure that counterparties, port and terminal operators, service providers and financial institutions are not subject to applicable sanctions restrictions. Particular care should be taken to avoid dealings involving designated persons or entities and sanctioned banks.

This summary is intended as a high-level overview only and does not constitute legal advice. Sanctions regimes change frequently and Members should seek up-to-date advice before undertaking any trade that may give rise to sanctions concerns.
