The development of alternative fuel technology is integral to meeting the maritime industry’s net-zero ambitions. However, the energy transition creates new risk profiles that must be analysed and understood, to ensure their safe integration and management within maritime operations. 

The shift to green shipping is a phased transition. We categorise the fuels of the future into two groups:

Transitional Fuels: Solutions like LNG, LPG, and Biofuels act as immediate bridges, offering lower carbon intensity and utilising existing technology to meet current 2030 intensity targets. 

Zero-Emission Fuels: Looking toward 2040 and 2050, the industry is preparing for "Tomorrow's Fuels" such as green ammonia, hydrogen, and methanol which promise true carbon neutrality but require significant shifts in vessel design, safety protocols, and crew training.

Using clean technologies and digital solutions are reducing harmful emissions while the industry waits for more definitive fuel choices. We are committed to providing the insight into the operational profile of solutions and their safe use onboard vessels, including, providing guidelines and highlighting additional training requirements that reduces risk whilst optimising results.
