OIL POLLUTION IN THE UNITED STATES
TANKER VOYAGE ADDITIONAL PREMIUM SYSTEM - 2008 POLICY YEAR
The additional premium system for tankers carrying persistent oil to or from the United States will continue for the 2008 policy year.
The new rates (set out below) represent a decrease of ten per cent on the 2007 rates.
In 2004, the Pool retention was increased from US$30 million to US$50 million. As before, a proportion of the US tanker voyage additional premiums will continue to be allocated to this additional layer.
The full text of the US Oil Pollution Clause 20/2/2008 will be set out in an Addendum to the Rules and will be incorporated, by reference, in the Certificates of Entry. As before, a lower rate per ton will apply to tankers equipped with segregated ballast tanks (SBT) in accordance with the requirements of Regulation 13 of Annex 1 to MARPOL 73/78.

(B) LOOP or lightening (per entered ton, each US voyage)

(C) Tankers of 1,000 gt or less
- non-SBT: either US$104 per voyage or US$2,053 per annum
- SBT: either US$90 per voyage or US$1,812 per annum
(D) Parcel tankers carrying 5,000 metric tons or less of persistent oil as cargo (per voyage)
- non-SBT: US$307
- SBT: US$271
(E) Parcel tankers carrying 5,001–10,000 metric tons of persistent oil as cargo (per voyage)
- non-SBT: US$773
- SBT: US$677
(F) Parcel tankers carrying more than 10,000 metric tons of persistent oil as cargo (per entered ton, each US voyage)
