We have recently seen many of our Members switching to electronic bills of lading ("eBLs") on some of their trades. The move towards a paperless trade is therefore gaining momentum. The Club is, however, still receiving many questions about eBLs and about the three eBL systems approved by the International Group of P&I Clubs, namely Bolero, essDOCS and e-titleTM. Australia's Zero Tolerance for Asbestos - New ABF requirements for imports into Australia

The UK Club has received the following update from its correspondents, HWL Ebsworth Lawyers, regarding new requirements for imports in Australia.
The UK P&I Club Brazil correspondents, Proinde, have provided the attached guide on cargo clearance and delivery in Brazil.
Recently there has been a recurrent pattern of vessel's searched by Customs on routine inspections at San Nicolás Port. As a consequence differences in the Store List declaration have been found which could result in heavy fines.
The E.O. had an effective date of March 16, 2017. However, the key provisions of E.O. 13780, banning the issuance of new visas to nationals of the six designated countries for 90 days, have now been suspended by two Federal district court judges, one in Hawaii and the other in Maryland. A ruling is awaited from a third Federal judge in the State of Washington.
As a result of legal challenges, the recent Executive Order setting forth restrictions on immigration to the U.S has been temporarily suspended.
Port authorities may require evidence of insurance prior to the expiry of current documents. Ships without 2017 policy year documentation prior to 20th February may face trading delays.
