On 24 June 2024 the EU Council adopted the 14th package of sanctions against Russia, which includes its first measures targeting Russia’s liquefied natural gas (LNG) sector, further export-related restrictions, sanctioning of vessels and new anti-circumvention measures, such as a requirement for EU companies to undertake best efforts to ensure that non-EU subsidiaries in third countries comply with EU sanctions.

The Vehicle Carrier Safety Forum (VCSF) publishes its first industry good practice guidelines entitled ‘Common Guidance on the loading and presentation of vehicles’.

The Electronic Trade Documents Act (“the Act”) comes into force today in the United Kingdom, giving legal recognition in English law to electronic trade documents, including electronic bills of lading.
The International Group (“IG”) Standard Form Letters of Indemnity (given in return for delivery of cargo without production of an original bill of lading and/or delivery of cargo at a port or place other than stated in the bill of lading) were last reviewed in 2010.
On 23 August 2023 OFAC issued a determination that allows sanctions to be imposed on any foreign individual or entity that operates in the jet fuel sector of the Burmese economy by expanding Executive Order 14014 (the”EO”).
This notice confirms approval by the IG of an updated version of the DSUA. This version is called DSUA 2023.1 and supersedes DSUA 2021.1, which remains approved for the purposes of Club cover.
