The International Group (IG) Pooling and Group Excess of Loss Reinsurance contract (GXL) structure for the 2023/24 Policy Year has now been finalised.
On 23 December 2022, the US Coast Guard issued a Final Rule in the Federal Register to adjust the limits of liability for vessels, deep-water ports and onshore facilities under its Oil Pollution Act of 1990 (OPA 90), as amended, to reflect the increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) since they were last adjusted in 2019.

The International Group of P&I Clubs and The Education Committee are pleased to announce the expansion of its annual scholarship programme to take part in the highly successful P&I Qualification programme.
Due to the impact of losses from the Russian/Ukrainian situation affecting the availability of global insurance and reinsurance capacity, the Club's reinsurers are no longer able to secure reinsurance for war risk exposure to Russian, Ukrainian or Belarus territorial risks.

On 28th September, the UK P&I Club took the opportunity to host its first ever Correspondents Open House to coincide with the International Group P&I Correspondents Conference in London, as hundreds of Club correspondents travelled from across the globe to meet in London for a few days.

On 17 March 2022 the UK Government published a General Trade Licence in part to clarify earlier amendments to the UK Russia (Sanctions) (EU Exit) Regulations (the “Regulation”). Specifically, the licence addresses the issue as to whether it is lawful under the Regulation for insurers and reinsurers domiciled or operating from the United Kingdom to provide insurance for vessels calling at Russian ports or transiting Russian territorial waters.
