The California Air Resources Board approved a new regulation designed to further reduce pollution from ocean-going vessels while docked at California’s busiest ports.
On 17 May 2019, IMO's MEPC 74 adopted the resolutions below to allow for ERBs to be used. Guidelines to support the use of ERBs were also adopted by the Committee. These amendments, which will reduce the heavy burden associated with paperwork and which are thus to be welcomed, will enter into force on 1 October 2020;

He was Chief Financial Officer for the Club from 2014 to 2018. In June 2018, Andrew was appointed Chief Executive Officer for the UK P&I Club and then appointed to the Board of Thomas Miller Holdings in February 2020, which has oversight of Thomas Miller’s international businesses..
Paul joined Thomas Miller after working for another International Group club in Greece. Paul is responsible for the UK Club's secretariat.
Alan is currently the Chief Claims Officer for the UK Club. He joined Thomas Miller in 2005 from a leading firm of maritime lawyers in London. Between 2007 and 2010 he held overall responsibility for management of UK Defence Club claims before moving to the P&I Club claims management function in 2010. Alan sits on the Bimco Documentary Committee, and chairs the International Group Bills of Lading and Occupational Diseases subcommittees.
After completing her master and Ph.D in law in Paris University (Sorbonne), Dr WU Chao joined Thomas Miller P&I Ltd (UK P&I Club) in 1994. Holding the position of Chief Legal Officer, she is responsible for the Club's general legal advice, legal aspects of cover for Members' contractual arrangements, the legal aspects of P&I Club documentation, and the Rules and Bye-Laws of the Club, as well as the Pooling Agreement and the legal aspects of the Club’s reinsurance contracts.
Paul joined Thomas Miller after working in the Lloyd’s and London Market for over 20 years including 5 years in Bermuda with KPMG. Paul is responsible for the UK Club’s regulatory compliance.
