Diseases transmitted to humans by mosquitoes have been growing over the last decades and now affect about half of the world's population, particularly in Africa, Asia and Latin America. In recent years, Brazil has recorded numerous outbreaks of mosquito-borne infectious diseases that are of significant concern to the health of seafarers and passengers with potential impact on the safe operation of vessels.
This bulletin briefly describe the physical properties of petcoke, the environmental implications of its discharge or loss at sea, the properties and effects of petcoke cleaning agents and some of the national and international policies relating to its disposal.

On 23 July 2020, the National Immigration Council issued Resolutions CNig The Federal Police issued a notice exceptionally and temporarily accepting, until at least 15 June 2021, seafarers' identity document (SID) issued under the format of ILO Convention C108, provided it is from member states to the ILO Convention C185, which is the case of India, among other nations.

The UK Club continues to see a number of bunker quality issues arising from delivery of alleged off-specification or contaminated bunkers. In many of these cases fuel sampling procedures on board at the time of delivery have been found inadequate and in many cases unreliable.
The UK Club Crew Health team were recently asked to source support for seafarers
who had sadly witnessed the unexpected death of a fellow crewmember. Months
later, despite initial counselling, the crew was still experiencing flashbacks and
anxiety. They were suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

The Club's Indonesian Correspondents, SPICA, have advised that every ship sailing in Indonesian territorial waters are now required to install and activate an automatic identification system (AIS). The regulation will take effect from 20 August 2019.

Although a precise estimate of the global sepsis cases is difficult to ascertain, some scientific publications report that it affects more than 30 million people worldwide every year, potentially leading to six million deaths.
Following a rise in the number of enquiries relating to the transport of metal scrap in containers, the Association would like to bring Members' attention to the CINS Metal Scrap Carriage Guidelines, which were published in January 2018.
INTERTANKO have recently received reports from Members in relation to uncharted terminals in China ports. Hydrographic inaccuracies and the non-marking of existing terminals on charts pose serious navigational risks and prevent ship Masters from carrying out proper passage planning and risk assessment.
