Sanctions against North Korea

In reaction to recent ballistic missile and nuclear weapons tests by North Korea, the U.S. and the UN have both imposed significant new sanctions against North Korea.

The UK P&I Club have received the following update from Freehill, Hogan and Mahar LLP, regarding recent sanction developments.

Further to the Club’s recent update on the joint PSC CIC by Paris, Tokyo and Abuja MOUs on Crew Wages and Seafarer Employment Agreements (MLC, 2006), the Riyadh MOU (composed of member countries Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia & UAE) has announced it will launch a CIC on ship’s lifting appliances, to run from 1 September 2024 to 30 November 2024.
