Christopher oversees the Club’s underwriting policies and operations. He joined Thomas Miller in 2001, and has worked with P&I since 1989. From 2002-2007 he was based in Hong Kong to head the Managers’ operations in Asia-Pacific, working closely with Members in the region. Christopher previously held a senior claims role.
Debbie joined TMA in 2000 from a global carrier. She handles all types of P&I claims and is the San Francisco pollution specialist.
Helena qualified as a solicitor with a leading London maritime firm in 1999 and spent two years working as a UK qualified solicitor in Sydney, Australia before returning to private practice in London. Helena moved in-house to another IG P&I Club in 2004 where she dealt with a wide range of FD&D and P&I claims before joining Thomas Miller in 2018.
Hironobu Bekku joined the Imabari Branch of the UK Club in October, 2015 , having previously worked in a Japanese shipowning and ship management company responsible for managing and operating various ship types.
Jim joined Thomas Miller in March 1977 and was initially based in the Cockfosters office. He then transferred to the London Office Personal Injuries Claims Syndicate in 1981. From 1982 Jim has held various roles within the Underwriting Department, currently having two main roles as both Policy Underwriter for the UK Defence Club and as part of the Senior Management Team. For P&I Jim is one of the Senior Underwriting Directors and the Underwriter for our Italian and Italian based Monaco Members. Jim is also involved in South Korea and Turkey.
Karolina joined the UK Club in January 2017. She handles P&I and FD&D claims for Syndicate L4. She is a qualified English solicitor and Merchant Navy Deck Officer of the Watch Unlimited. She served as a Deck Cadet on variety of cargo and passenger ships worldwide. She speaks fluent Polish and basic German.
Kim joined TMA in 1991. She specialises in handling personal injury and cargo claims. She has previous
experience of sixteen years with a leading American steamship company.
Mark joined Thomas Miller in the summer of 2015. He is an ex-mariner who spent six years at sea, sailing up to the rank of 2nd navigational officer. Mark is an English qualified solicitor who previously worked in the post fixture department of a Malaysian shipowner as well as for another International Group P&I Club. Mark handles all types of P&I claims and FD&D disputes for H1 Members.
Matthew joined Thomas Miller in 2004. He is a Senior Underwriting Director, supporting the Club's Members in the Asia Pacific region, with a particular focus on Japan.
Neil joined Thomas Miller in 1992 having completed his studies in Business and Finance. He initially worked in underwriting before transferring to the personal injury syndicate where he handled a variety of people related claims with a particular focus on Members based in Turkey. He was also responsible for the account management of a large UK based crew manager.
In 2003, Neil transferred to the IT department to manage projects associated with the Club’s award winning electronic claims management system. He then left Thomas Miller to work as an IT project manager for some of the leading London Market insurers.
Neil returned to P&I in 2011 joining the personal injury team of another London based P&I Club before re-joining Thomas Miller in November 2013 where he continues to handle a broad range of people related claims concentrating on Members based in Germany.
Rick is a lawyer who received his degree from Tulane Law School. He will focus on P&I claims for members of the UK Club.
Sophia joined Thomas Miller in 1992 and from 1994 worked as a claims handler dealing mainly with French and Spanish members. In 2004 Sophia became the Crew Health Programme Director.
As part of her work in the Crew Health Programme, Sophia has undertaken a large number of clinic audits, implemented the standard medical form and clinic guidelines. She has also led the scheme through the largest period of growth and development with a doubling of approved clinic facilities and a four fold member increase. Sophia is a Director of Thomas Miller & Co. Ltd.
Tania joined Thomas Miller in October 2014. She is an Underwriter supporting the Club's Members in Greece and the Mediterranean area. Prior to joining the Club, Tania was working for a major London marine insurance broker, dealing also with H&M and War Risk insurances, having previously worked in Piraeus for a H&M insurer. Tania has completed the Advanced Diploma in Insurance and is a Chartered Insurer with the Chartered Insurance Institute.
Victoria joined Thomas Miller in 2008. She is a qualified solicitor and prior to joining the company, worked for a City law firm for 10 years, where she mainly handled personal injury litigation.
As a member of the people claims syndicate, Victoria handles a wide variety of people related claims, focusing particularly on crew and passenger claims for French and US members. She also handles occupational disease, stowaway claims and claims arising from stevedore injuries.
