Christopher oversees the Club’s underwriting policies and operations. He joined Thomas Miller in 2001, and has worked with P&I since 1989. From 2002-2007 he was based in Hong Kong to head the Managers’ operations in Asia-Pacific, working closely with Members in the region. Christopher previously held a senior claims role.
Jim joined Thomas Miller in March 1977 and was initially based in the Cockfosters office. He then transferred to the London Office Personal Injuries Claims Syndicate in 1981. From 1982 Jim has held various roles within the Underwriting Department, currently having two main roles as both Policy Underwriter for the UK Defence Club and as part of the Senior Management Team. For P&I Jim is one of the Senior Underwriting Directors and the Underwriter for our Italian and Italian based Monaco Members. Jim is also involved in South Korea and Turkey.
After five years as a P&I broker Paul joined the Club’s Underwriting Department in 2001, supporting the European and North American markets. In 2004 he transferred to underwriting the Club’s Greek Membership, and is the Senior Underwriting Director for the Greek and Monaco regions.
Stephen joined Thomas Miller in February 2012, following a career of 24 years as a P&I broker. Prior to this he spent 4 years with The Through Transport Club as an Underwriter.
Andrew has worked for Thomas Miller since 1995 holding various management and underwriting roles. Prior to his role as Senior Underwriting Director, Andrew worked for the TT Club, also managed by Thomas Miller.
Andrew has worked and lived in London, Dubai, Singapore and Hong Kong and brings a depth of shipping and logistics underwriting experience. He served as Regional Director for Asia Pacific from 2006 to 2010, and on his return to London became the Regional Director for Europe, Middle East and Africa. Before joining Thomas Miller, Andrew worked as a cargo underwriter in the London commercial market. He has also worked and lived in Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain.
Andrew works with Members worldwide, with particular focus on Germany and the Middle East.
Paul joined Thomas Miller in 2004 and is the Club’s Head Underwriter for the Asia Pacific region. Prior to this he enjoyed an extensive career as a broker where he attained senior positions within the international broking business. Whilst mainly based in London, Paul has spent periods stationed elsewhere and is well-known in the international shipping and insurance markets.
Patrick joined Thomas Miller in 1984. He is the senior underwriter for North and South America, UK and Benelux. He has previously worked with Members in other European regions and the Middle East. He is also Reinsurance Director with responsibility for the Club’s reinsurances.
Matthew joined Thomas Miller in 2004. He is a Senior Underwriting Director, supporting the Club's Members in the Asia Pacific region, with a particular focus on Japan.
James has an MA (Hons) from the University of St Andrews and had gained an Advanced Diploma in Ship Operations and Management from the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers. Prior to joining Thomas Miller in 2013, James was a P&I / FDD Underwriter for 11 years in the commercial market with a focus on European and Asian business. This followed two years in the London / Lloyd’s non-marine market. James previously held a senior underwriting role, dealing principally with business from Greece and Korea.
Sarah joined Thomas Miller in 1990. She is an Underwriter within the Europe and Americas team and is responsible for the day to day underwriting of Germany, Croatia, UK and North Africa. She also assists on a number of European and American Cruise accounts.
Sue joined the Underwriting department in 1985. She is the Underwriter primarily for Cyprus, Turkey, and Italy. She is a Member of the FMC, Blue Cards and Confirmation of Entry Sub-committees.
Her previous role was the Underwriting Operations Director.
Peter Jones is a Physics BSc (Hons) graduate from the University of Bath and a CII Chartered Insurer. Prior to joining Thomas Miller’s underwriting department, Peter was handling P&I claims, having formerly worked as a Claims Adjuster in the non-marine market. He now supports the UK Club’s members in the Asia Pacific region, having previously supported members in Europe, Middle East and North and South America.
Sumit is an Underwriter, dealing principally with business from the EMEA region. Prior to joining the underwriting team, Sumit was the Syndicate Manager responsible for claims with a focus on Middle East / Indian, Turkish and South Asian Members. Sumit is a Master Mariner who joined Thomas Miller in 2012 following a career at sea primarily on tankers, LPG and LNG vessels. This was followed by a period with in an oil and gas major in the shipping, marketing and trading team. Sumit speaks Hindi, Gujarati, Marathi and Malayalam. Sumit is also a director of Thomas Miller.
Tania joined Thomas Miller in October 2014. She is an Underwriter supporting the Club's Members in Greece and the Mediterranean area. Prior to joining the Club, Tania was working for a major London marine insurance broker, dealing also with H&M and War Risk insurances, having previously worked in Piraeus for a H&M insurer. Tania has completed the Advanced Diploma in Insurance and is a Chartered Insurer with the Chartered Insurance Institute.
William joined Thomas Miller in 2012. He is an Underwriter on the Europe team, servicing European and American Members, having previously worked in the Asia Pacific team. Prior to joining Thomas Miller in 2012, William worked in the Lloyd's market as a Marine insurance broker.
Dingjing Huang is a Deputy Underwriter, supporting the Club's Members in the Asia Pacific region. He joined Thomas Miller after finishing his PhD degree in Maritime Law. Prior to his current role, Dingjing was supporting both the Underwriting and Legal departments with a particular focus on Chinese business and legal issues.
Tom Whadcock joined the Underwriting Department on the 12th September 2017 as a Trainee Underwriter, supporting the Club's Members in the Asia Pacific region. He joined Thomas Miller having come from a Placement Department and underwriting background. He also graduated from University College London. Tom currently holds the Diploma in Insurance and is working towards the Advanced Diploma in Insurance.
Kwan joined the UK P&I Club in 2019 and he is the Charterers Underwriting Specialist. He is responsible for servicing and developing Charterers Liability Members together with the regional Underwriters. Prior to this role, he has worked at Dutch P&I for 10 years leading the Charterers Liability MGA facility.
Duncan joined Thomas Miller in 2000 working as a Technician in the P&I Underwriting department
He progressed to a Senior Technician/client facing role primarily dealing with the US, UK and German areas as well as specialising in the Clubs cruise business.
Today Duncan is responsible for analysing the needs of the P&I Club, providing information to key organisations and developing new systems and procedures to meet the changing requirements of the industry.
Claire first joined the UK Club Claims department in February 2011 and then subsequently moved to P&I Underwriting in September 2011. Claire originally worked in the European and Americas team before assisting with the Asia Pacific Members since 2014 as a Senior Underwriting Technician. Claire is currently working through the P&I Qualifications and holds the CII Certificate of Insurance.
Gemma Hone joined the UK Club in January 2013. Gemma started working on the Far East team, assisting Paul Pelling and his team. She moved internally to support the Greece team and now works alongside Paul Collier, James Petrie, Tania Bourla and Lily Soesan.
Janice joined Underwriting in December 2014, providing support to the Europe and Americas Team. Prior to that Janice worked at Thomas Miller for a number of years in the European Regional Support Team where she was a Communications Assistant and then a Senior Communications Assistant for the P&I and FDD Claims teams.
Georgina joined the UK Club on 11th August 2014 having worked previously at another P&I Club. She now works in the Underwriting department as an Underwriting Technician on the Far East Asia team assisting Paul Pelling, Matthew Bayman, Peter Jones and Dingjing Huang. Georgina is currently working towards her CII Certificate in Insurance.
Leah Wallace joined P&I Underwriting on the 14th December 2015 having previously worked in the Facilities Department at Thomas Miller for nearly 2 years.
She is an Underwriting Technician on the Europe and Americas team. Leah is studying for her CII Certificate in Insurance.
Natalie joined Thomas Miller in November 2011. Following roles in the Claims department, Natalie subsequently joined the Underwriting Department as an Underwriting Technician in October 2015 and is supporting the Club's Members in the Asia Pacific region, including Japan and South Korea. Natalie is studying for her CII Certificate in Insurance.
Tyler Harris joined the P&I Underwriting department on the 26th September 2016 as an Underwriting Technician. Tyler works within the Europe team and has completed his Certificate in Insurance (CII). Tyler is currently studying towards the Advanced Diploma in Insurance (ACII).
Jamie Hayday joined the UK P&I Club on the 26th September 2016 as an Underwriting Technician having worked in the Aviation department for one year after leaving school. Jamie is currently an Underwriting Technician supporting the Greece team.
Megan joined Thomas Miller in 2016 as Team Secretary to the UK P&I’s Underwriting team. She works primarily with the Europe and Central teams, however also provides support to the wider Underwriting department.
Megan has achieved her CII Certificate in Insurance.
