Senior Loss Prevention Advisor Captain Anuj Velankar recently represented the UK P&I Club at seminars held on the 8th and 10th of February in Mumbai and Chennai.

Dental problems are often a major cause for concern amongst seafarers. At the UK P&I Club, we often see claims arising from dental problems that require urgent medical treatment and even repatriation of crew.

Twenty-five Members representing all vessel types, attended the seminar in our Jersey City office to listen to experts talk on: Limitation of Liability, How to Evaluate Pain and Suffering Damages, Crew Mental Health, Medical Case Management, and Medical Repatriation. Dr Balaji of Balaji Medical Centre, a clinic which is part of the UK P&I PEME programme, comments on the dangers of hepatitis B, the silent epidemic.
The Club has recently dealt with two identical serious arm injuries (Singapore and USA) caused during routine inspections and cleaning inside the main engine scavenge air receivers.
