In May 2015 Signum Services were requested to investigate an internet based payment diversion fraud concerning a ship owner who had been duped into paying a large sum of money into a fraudster's bank account in Birmingham.

We have recently seen many of our Members switching to electronic bills of lading ("eBLs") on some of their trades. The move towards a paperless trade is therefore gaining momentum. The Club is, however, still receiving many questions about eBLs and about the three eBL systems approved by the International Group of P&I Clubs, namely Bolero, essDOCS and e-titleTM. This Legal Briefing provides brief explanations on these three systems and how each of them works.
In order to help our Members manage the risk of fishing vessel collisions and to learn from these often tragic events, we have worked with experts in fisheries and aquaculture to produce a guide for Masters and their Bridge teams on how to reduce the risk of collisions with fishing vessels.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has confirmed an outbreak of the Ebola virus disease. So far eleven suspected cases have been reported, including three deaths.
Circular 4/17: Review of open policy years

At their meeting in May 2017, the Directors closed the 2014 policy year. The surplus was transferred to the reserves. The 2014 policy year was closed and open years developing in line with expectations.
Review of the year 2017

The Review of the year 2017 details the Club's financials and claims experience. 2016 has been another strong year for the Club. Despite a small number of large claims notified to the Club towards the end of the year, a decent underwriting result and strong performance within the investment markets have enabled the Club to record a surplus for the ninth year in a row.
