During this webinar, the Club’s Loss Prevention Director, Stuart Edmonston, was joined by Dr Marcin Nazaruk, a global expert in proactive learning who helps companies to apply Learning from Normal Work in practice and Capt. Lekshmi Salvady, Anglo-Eastern Tanker Management Managing Director who shared his journey focused on Learning from Normal Work.

When an incident occurs, it is easy to assume that it happened because something went wrong, like not following a procedure. Similarly, when a job is completed without an incident, it's easy to assume that all procedures were followed and all controls were applied.

When we review how work is executed, without incidents, we see exactly the same things in investigation reports. People skip steps in the procedures, cut corners, the tools are missing, or people don't have enough time to finish the job, but there is no incident.

Success looks a lot like failure.

Learning from Normal Work allows ship owners and managers to look at everyday activities and proactively improve processes, preventing the next major incident. In this webinar, we discuss how this new approach to ship management improves safety and performance on board.
