1061 - 10/15 - 偽の乗船許可証 (ナイジェリア)
The incident occurred at an anchorage off Apapa, Nigeria. A small boat approached a vessel at anchor and passed a letter to the crew on deck, stating that they were allowed to board. After making some inquiries, the Master confirmed that the letter was not genuine and notified the local authorities. The small craft personnel were arrested by Nigerian Navy and the case is pending further investigation. This incident shows a growing trend in Nigeria, where unauthorized personnel often try to gain access to both ship and crew.
Masters are advised to confirm all information with their Agents or Owners if they are uncertain of a letter which permits the access of shore personnel on board.
