Press release: UKクラブは最新の双方向型「事故の教訓」ビデオをリリースしました
- Video depicts collision of bulk carrier with a fishing vesselUK P&I Club, a leading provider of P&I insurance and other services to the international shipping community, has launched the second in a series of educational and informative, training videos, 'Collision with a Fishing Vessel'.
'Collision with a Fishing Vessel' explains how a bulk carrier, navigating at night with good weather and visibility, collided with a fishing vessel despite detecting the craft in good time. The accident occurred due to the Officer of the Watch (OOW) failing to take proper action in good time, belated attempts at course alteration by the bulker and a failure to use sound signals to alert the fishing vessel's crew.
The series of videos, which are being released on a bi-monthly basis, provide an interactive training experience with a focus on educating crew members on common marine accidents and how to prevent them in future using real-life examples. Hosted across Thomas Miller websites, including UK P&I, as well as its YouTube and Vimeo platforms, the videos will be available to view for training purposes by both marine employers and their employees. Stuart Edmonston, Loss Prevention Director at UK P&I Club, said: "The scenario depicted in this video could have been avoided with early action, increased awareness of the bulker's proximity to the fishing vessel and better communication among crew. Making the shipping industry safer for all marine workers is a key focus for UK P&I Club.
"Within the industry, many preventable marine accidents still occur and the Club hopes that these interactive and reflective-learning, training videos will be a useful resource and training aid in the promotion of greater safety at sea."
